Sunday 2/19: Backyard Jams with Daniel Market

Concert in The Kiln at 7

DANIEL TRAVELED EXTENSIVELY THROUGHOUT HIS LATE 20’S AND 30’S PLAYING SOLO, ORIGINAL MUSIC. HE PERFORMED AT FESTIVALS AND VENUES FROM CHICAGO, TO BOULDER, TO BOSTON WHILE TRAVERSING THE COUNTRY AS A SOLO PERFORMER. HE HAS WRITTEN OVER 200 SONGS THAT RANGE FROM BLUES, TO FOLK, TO ACOUSTIC ROCK, TO HUMOROUS. THE COMMON THREAD OF THE SONGS IS THEIR COMPLEX LYRICISM.

IN THE LATE 1980’S HE MOVED TO NASHVILLE, TENNESSEEAND REGULARLY PLAYING THE BLUEBIRD CAFÉ, DOUGLAS CORNER CAFÉ, THE SUTLER AND THE WRLT LIVE RADIO BROADCAST ALONG WITH OTHER SONGWRITER VENUES. THOSE SHOWS WERE NORMALLY PERFORMED WITH A GROUP OF FINE, BACKING MUSICIANS. WHILE LIVING IN NASHVILLE HE ALSO EARNED HIS MASTERS DEGREE IN MICROBIOLOGY AT VANDERBILT UNIVERSITY. AT NIGHT HE PLAYED HIS SONGS AT THE VARIOUS CLUBS. HE RECORDED THREE INDEPENDENTLY RELEASED CD PROJECTS DURING THIS TIME. TWO OF THOSE WERE PICKED AS “TOP INDEPENDENT RELEASES” IN THE ACCLAIMED “THE PERFORMING SONGWRITER” MAGAZINE. THAT PUBLICATION WAS A NASHVILLE BASED, INTERNATIONALLY RELEASESD ISSUE FEATURING PERFORMING MUSICIANS SUCH AS BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN, JONI MITCHELL, TOM WAITS, JAMES TAYLOR, ETC. THE REVIEWER OF THOSE CDS STATED: ”THERE ARE UNFORGETTABLE LINES LEAPING OUT OF EACH AND EVERY SONG ON WONDERLAND AVENUE” AND IN A LATER REVIEW STATES: “AFRAID OF WHAT I WEAR CONTINUES TO SHOWCASE AN ARTIST WITH A VOICE AND VISION LIKE NO ONE ELSE’S”. A FOURTH CD, THE MAN I SLEEP WITH, WAS RELEASED A FEW YEARS LATER TO NUMEROUS POSITIVE REVIEWS. SONGWRITING INFLUENCES INCLUDE WAITS, MITCHELL, JOHN PRINE, GORDON LIGHTFOOT, HARRY CHAPIN AND OTHERS.

DANIEL RECENTLY MOVED TO THE MUSCLE SHOALS, ALABAMA AREA. HE IS RESTORING A LAKE HOUSE AND JUST RELEASED HIS FIFTH SOLO CD OF NEW SONGS. “ALMOST ALIVE FROM SUNSET BEACH” FEATURES A FINE GROUP OF SHOALS MUSICIANS WITH AN INTIMANT, ACOUSTIC PRODUCTION.
